Project Overview
Italian Modern Minimalism for a Landmark Chengdu Hotel.
Located in the heart of Chengdu at Tianfu Square, JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu combines contemporary luxury with views across one of southwest China’s most dynamic cities. The hotel offers refined guestrooms and suites alongside restaurants, lounges, event spaces and a large Grand Ballroom.
The interior design of the guestrooms follows an Italian modern minimalist direction, using high-grade grey tones, clean architectural lines and carefully selected materials to create a sophisticated and understated atmosphere.
For this project, Lohabour contributed custom bedroom and restaurant furniture, combining contemporary furniture forms with materials including solid wood, sintered stone, leather and panelboard. The furniture package was developed to maintain a consistent visual language across private guestrooms and shared hospitality spaces.

01 / Design Direction
Italian Modern Minimalism in High-Grade Grey Tones.
The guestroom furniture follows an Italian modern minimalist design language, combining clean geometry, restrained detailing and a sophisticated neutral palette.
High-grade grey tones create a calm and refined atmosphere, while carefully coordinated furniture elements allow the interior to feel luxurious without becoming visually excessive. Smooth lines and controlled proportions give the furniture a contemporary character suited to a high-end international hotel.
- 01 Italian modern minimalist style
- 02 High-grade grey palette
- 03 Clean architectural forms
- 04 Contemporary luxury
02 / Architectural Furniture
Furniture Integrated Into the Architecture.
The TV wall becomes an important architectural element within the guestroom. Galvanized metal decorative strips introduce a subtle industrial detail while reinforcing the contemporary character of the interior.
Rather than relying on a conventional TV cabinet, the design incorporates a marble shelf that provides a refined horizontal element while also offering practical space that can function as an alternative to a traditional luggage rack. This approach allows the furniture to become part of the architectural composition rather than appearing as an isolated object.

- 02 Integrated TV wall design
- 03 Marble shelf
- 04 Alternative luggage storage
03 / Suite Furniture
A Refined Furniture Language for the Suites.
The suites extend the same minimalist design language through a more substantial furniture composition. An Italian-style TV wall cabinet provides integrated storage and display while maintaining the clean architectural character of the room.
The cabinet is finished with a light-coloured veneer, creating a softer contrast against the darker elements of the interior. Integrated lighting at the top of the cabinet adds depth and creates a warmer atmosphere, particularly in the evening.

04 / Seating & Living
Smooth Lines. Comfortable Proportions.
Sofas, armchairs and coffee tables were developed to complement the architectural furniture and maintain the same contemporary visual language.
Smooth furniture profiles and restrained detailing create a comfortable yet sophisticated appearance. Stainless steel feet add a light visual structure to the pieces, lifting them from the floor and reinforcing the minimalist character of the interior.
The result is a coordinated guestroom environment where seating, storage and architectural furniture work together as a single design system.

Material Palette
Solid Wood. Sintered Stone. Leather. Refined Surfaces.
Material selection plays an important role in the character of the JW Marriott Chengdu furniture package. A combination of solid wood, sintered stone, leather and panelboard creates contrast between natural warmth, refined surfaces and contemporary architectural details.
Solid Wood
Used to introduce natural warmth and a sense of material quality within the contemporary interior.
Sintered Stone
Provides a refined and durable surface for selected furniture elements and architectural details.
Leather
Adds tactile comfort and a sophisticated finish to selected seating and furniture elements.
Panelboard & Veneer
Used for furniture structures, cabinetry and large architectural surfaces requiring consistency and precise finishing.
05 / Restaurant Furniture
The Same Design Language Extends Into Dining Spaces.
The furniture concept continues from the guestrooms into the hotel's dining environments. Restaurant furniture follows the same restrained approach to colour, proportion and material selection, creating visual continuity across the project.
Custom bar counters and Italian-style dining tables and chairs introduce a clean and sophisticated appearance. The combination of wood, refined surfaces and upholstered elements creates a hospitality environment that feels contemporary, comfortable and carefully considered.

Lohabour / Manufacturing
From Design Intent to Consistent Production.
High-end hotel furniture requires more than a strong visual concept. Materials, proportions, construction details and finishing need to remain consistent across repeated furniture elements and different areas of the hotel.
Lohabour translates design requirements into practical manufacturing solutions through material coordination, engineering, controlled production and quality inspection. This approach allows complex furniture compositions to be reproduced consistently while maintaining the intended appearance and functionality.
Design Development
Understanding furniture concepts, dimensions, materials and intended interior applications.
Engineering
Developing practical construction details and production-ready furniture solutions.
Material Selection
Coordinating wood, stone, leather, panels and other finishes with the design direction.
