Project Overview

Outdoor Furniture Designed for a Tropical Resort Environment.

Located on Yanuca Island along Fiji's Coral Coast, Shangri-La's Fijian Resort & Spa combines resort accommodation with a wide range of restaurants, bars and outdoor hospitality spaces overlooking the surrounding coastal landscape.

The resort features different dining and bar concepts, each with its own atmosphere and material palette. This creates a varied hospitality environment where furniture needs to adapt to different spaces while maintaining the comfort and durability required for resort use.

For this project, Lohabour contributed outdoor and hospitality furniture including sofas, armchairs, coffee tables, dining tables, dining chairs and bar furniture. Materials and construction were selected with tropical conditions in mind, including exposure to UV, moisture and frequent outdoor use.

02 / Outdoor Seating

Comfortable Seating for Open-Air Resort Spaces.

Outdoor seating forms an important part of the resort experience. Sofas and armchairs need to remain comfortable while also withstanding exposure to sunlight, humidity and changing outdoor conditions.

The furniture selection includes PE plastic rattan seating reinforced with steel structures. The woven material provides a relaxed tropical appearance, while the internal steel structure provides strength and stability for repeated hospitality use.

Removable waterproof cushions with resilient padding provide additional comfort and allow the seating to be maintained more easily in an outdoor environment.

Material & Finish

Materials Selected for Tropical Conditions.

Outdoor resort furniture needs to withstand sunlight, moisture and frequent use while maintaining a comfortable and refined appearance. The furniture selection combines woven materials, wood, steel and composite surfaces to balance durability, comfort and visual character.

PE Rattan

High-quality artificial PE rattan provides a woven tropical appearance while offering resistance to sunlight, moisture and mildew. Its durable construction makes it suitable for demanding outdoor hospitality environments.

Steel

Steel structures provide strength and stability for outdoor seating and dining furniture designed for repeated resort use.

Ash Wood

Ash wood elements are used in selected furniture pieces, including coffee tables and armchairs, bringing a natural material character to the outdoor environment.

Composite Surfaces

Composite wood-plastic surfaces provide a practical option for outdoor tabletops where moisture resistance and durability are important.

Relaxed Furniture for Coffee and Lounge Spaces.

04 / Lounge Areas

Relaxed Furniture for Coffee and Lounge Spaces.

Smaller lounge and coffee areas require furniture that feels relaxed while remaining robust enough for regular resort use. Coffee tables with refined ash wood legs are paired with woven armchairs to create a natural and comfortable atmosphere.

The combination of wood and woven materials introduces texture and warmth while maintaining the practical character required for hospitality environments.

05 / Outdoor Dining

Built for Dining by the Coast.

Outdoor dining furniture has to perform in conditions that are considerably more demanding than a conventional interior environment. Moisture, sunlight, cleaning and repeated guest use all influence the choice of materials and construction.

For selected dining areas, composite wood-plastic tabletops are combined with steel table bases to provide a practical and durable solution. Woven dining chairs with steel frames add strength while maintaining the relaxed character associated with tropical resort furniture.

Comfort and Durability in Larger Lounge Areas.

06 / Premium Furniture

Comfort and Durability in Larger Lounge Areas.

For selected lounge and dining environments, the furniture combines robust frames with comfortable cushioning and refined finishes. Full-cast aluminium frames provide a lightweight yet durable structure with resistance to corrosion and rust, making them suitable for outdoor resort environments.

High-density rebound foam provides additional comfort, while marble-top dining tables introduce a more refined material character. Together, these elements create a balance between durability and the relaxed luxury expected from a high-end tropical resort.
